The International 2024 Set For Copenhagen
Valve has confirmed that a TI will occur in 2024, and the event will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Royal Arena will be the battleground for sixteen of the best teams in the world. Previously, Counter-Strike events, such as the BLAST Premier Fall Final, have been held in the venue.
The participating teams will be a mix of direct invites, open qualifiers, and regional qualifiers. No further details have been provided, but Valve mentioned it would be similar to the first few years of The International.
In the past few years, the DPC has been the way teams would qualify for The International. However, Valve abandoned the project ahead of 2024, meaning no Major tournaments were held. As a result, third-party organizations such as BetBoom and ESL have been hosting their own tournaments, such as BetBoom DACHA Dubai and DreamLeague Season 22, which do not help teams qualify for TI.
In the past, Valve would directly invite eight of the best teams of the year, depending on performance. The remaining slots would be gained through regional qualifiers. This system could be implemented again for The International 2024.
