Back-to-Back BLAST Slam Winners – Tundra Win First Event With Crystallis

Tundra Esports has become the first team to win back-to-back BLAST Slam titles after taking down Team Falcons in the Grand Finals. In a matchup between former Creepwave and TI-winning lineups, Tundra Esports took the win after a 3-1 score.

In the first map, Tundra Esports simply dominated the early game. Bzm’s mid-lane Beastmaster had completely free reign over the game, going 11/0/8 to propel Tundra Esports to a quick 27-minute win.

Crystallis was drafted his signature Razor for the second time, and was able to prove all his haters wrong. After a back-and-forth affair, the newest addition to the Tundra Esports roster displayed his capabilities in crucial teamfights, leading to a 2-0 lead in the Best of 5 series.

Team Falcons didn’t reach the Grand Final just to be blown out, as they punched their way back in the third map. It was impossible for Tundra Esports supports to play the game, as the Falcons picked heroes that could easily punish supports. Saksa went 1/16 on Tusk, while Whitemon ended the game 1/10 on Ancient Apparition. After 38 minutes of clean gameplay, Team Falcons could take their first map to keep the series interesting.

Game 4 was the most entertaining map of the series. Team Falcons were performing well throughout the game, but bzm’s signature Invoker made the difference and kept Tundra Esports in contention. The Bulgarian was landing Sun Strike after Sun Strike to keep his team in the game. After securing numerous kills, Bzm’s Invoker managed to climb to the top net worth spot and made a massive impact in fights through Cataclysm combos.

Unfortunately, Malr1ne's Dragon Knight was not able to match his counterpart. The Russian went 3/9 and only dealt 11,000 hero damage in 55 minutes, resulting in a 3-1 victory for Tundra Esports.

Blast Slam III marks the team’s first victory with Crystallis, who joined the team in March. The team’s efforts have earned them $300,000, while Team Falcons walk home with $150,000. The next iteration of the event will be held in Singapore in front of a crowd.
